A Bit About Me
Lawrence Ojok is a Mechanical Engineer who Graduated at Kyambogo University in 2000 and worked as a mechanical supervisor in Tanzanite One, a mining company in Tanzania till 2008 before venturing in machine production as an entrepreneur.
It was in 2014 when he became a champion to further develop the Bean Thresher after attending a month long IDDS (International Development Design Summit) conducted by IDIN, a USAID funded workshop.
Just after the summit he was elected by his peers as the chairman IDDS Tanzania chapter.
He was awarded by American Society Of Mechanical Engineers for his Rock Drill prototype for Artisanal and small scale miners during an Innovation Showcase (ASME ISHOW AWARD) in May/2016.
And was also shortlisted among 16 finalists on the African continent by the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAENG),UK for the Africa Prize of Engineering Innovation (APEI) 2016-2017.
Lawrence received an invitation from His Royal Highness (HRH) Prince Andrew, the Duke of York to Pitch his Technology to a high-profile audience at the St. James Palace UK.
His passion and enthusiasm in these community development projects have exposed him to the low-income communities like the Small holder farmers and Small Scale miners in Tanzania, plus being networked to fellow innovators, mentors/experts around the globe.Please visit the following URL links for more information about the innovator
